Q: Is the sheet music available in Spanish for
for the songs from Música de la Fe’s recordings?
A: Several of the songs from our recordings have been published in Spanish. View a list of those songs.
Q:
How can the music be obtained for songs not listed above?
A:
Follow these three steps:
- Look on the CD or cassette insert of a recording by Música de la Fe to find publisher information for both the music and the text.
- Find contact information for the publisher in the alphabetical listing below, and order a copy of the English arrangement from them. See a list of publishers here.
- Submit a request for permission to write the Spanish translation into one copy of the arrangement and then to make photocopies.
Keep in mind that:
If the lyrics are copyrighted, you must submit a separate request to the owner of the lyrics to secure permission to copy them into the arrangement. Of course, if they are in public domain, no separate permission will be necessary.
You must specify number of copies to be made, and for what purpose (ex.: church choir).
Most of these letters can be submitted via email. Check the publisher’s website where applicable to find email addresses or online submission forms.
Q:
Why is it important to obtain permission to photocopy these songs for use in my church?
A:
Copyright laws protect the work of the individuals who are serving us by producing good music. Most of these musicians make their living by composing and arranging. When a photocopy of the music is made and not paid for, that photocopy is stolen. To ignore the law in this area is a serious matter in the sight of God (see Romans 13).
Q:
Why is there a problem with copying music CDs and cassettes?
A:
See answer above about photocopying sheet music. The ministries that are dedicated to recording God-honoring Christian music will not be able to continue if their music is stolen. Many thousands of dollars are invested in each recording, and the money from the sales goes to pay that cost and to provide for a future recording.
